Loropetalum chinense, commonly called Chinese fringe flower, is a white-flowered broad-leaved evergreen shrub of the witch hazel family. It is native to woodlands in Japan, China and Southeast Asia. Leaves are pale green. Lightly aromatic, spidery flowers bloom in clusters in spring (late March-April). Each flower has four narrow, downward-drooping, strap-shaped white petals. However, it is the rubrum variety, with its reddish or pink flowers, that made this shrub popular in landscaping.

Freesia is a genus of about 14 species, which are Africa in origin, mostly South Africa. Freesia flowers are one of the most fragrant flowers. Freesia bulbs are usually grown for use as cut flowers. Flowers come in a great variety of colors such as white, yellow, red, pink, purple, orange and bi-colors.
