Okayama, Japan - October 10, 2012: view of Okayama's Castle in early autumn. Started in 1573 and completed in 1597, it's main tower was destroyed in 1945 and replicated in concrete. Two of the surviving watch towers are listed as Important Cultural Properties by the National Agency for Cultural Affairs.

Shachihoko are mythical half dragon half fish sea creatures that are said to bring rain. They were typically placed on the roofs of castles and the homes of samurai to protect them from fire.
